my mum worked in service for the people who had the exchange vaults, the year being 1938,she also worked behind the bar.I think the name chessies came from that era because the landlords name was cheshire, anyone out there know any different?

Latest pub thats on the brink is the Black Horse at Moss Bank, this pub has been opened since the 1750s when

the coaches use to travel that way Eastwards. After quite a few tennant's over the years the actual building is now

up for sale, A sign of the pub demise in this era and no doubt many more to come.

I lived at the Little Pig from 1955 - 1962 when my dad was landlord there. I didn't even know it had closed though it comes as no surprise.
Hi.just to say quite a few "nice pubs"have folded for "refurbishment".Or as others to become"quaint apartments".Many people say its the no smoking ban, others the prices charged in pubs.
Yes supermarkets do have the go ahead to offer under the odds for packs and people are quite happy to struggle out of ASDA,TESCO etc yet complain about pubs closing. Many owners(breweries etc)are quite happy to run some pubs at a loss to off set their tax liability. But if you go into establishments these days most are either grotty hell holes with paint peeling, dirty upholstery etc.Other whilst being refurbished have been turned into "carverys etc"Those that do provide so called entertainment its odds on its karaoke.I dont have an issue with the younger generation who dont, like their forefathers have any affiliation to one drinking hole but flitting from one bar to another -one closes and another comes in under a different name the next week.So can we assume the days of sitting in one pub downing 10 or 12 pints has now gone?suppose I will have to stay with my PIMS eh?
