Vinty, Found this about UGB. Is this any help to you? Although I think their home was Bobbies Lane.

I think you have solved the mystery Phyll. Some great Rugby History there.
Reading through your link it says that UGB did play a game away at Peasley Cross Lane in the 1930s so it confirms that there was a ground But Who did it belong to ?
I was certain that that I had watched rugby games at that site as a boy. UGB expanded and took over the land right up to Peasley Cross Lane just after the war I think, I can remember a Red Oxide works being somewhere in the vincinity of where the gates to the UGB site are now just before the Railway bridge.Maybe Someone can can confirm if rugby was actually played on the site of the new Stadium previously.

Thanks Phyll could well be the same ground.I have been doing a bit of research myself and have found a very interesting article in the St Helens Star about "Unos Dabs" Rugby team which confirms that there was a rugby ground where the New Stadium is being built.Click on the following link.

That's great Vinty, very interesting reading. I know we were talking about the Rugby, but Gill Bond is mentioned in the link. I believe that's Gilly's Grandfather.

Here's one of the links where he mentions him and there's a photo of him in the Photos section.

Sorry to Dave for digressing from the original topic.
