i can remember the good times at the cables in the 60s i would run on the pitich with the team, going back then it was the best times i must say,my dad rewired the stage and the concert room all for free my dad was one of the gang who ran the club sat and sundays always full, there was always a group on stage, good darts team not sure what night, but my dad and his best friends had a great dominoe team.all stayed best of friends for more than thirty years.when the cables closed my dad and his mates went to the plough pub and started a dominoe team there some of the names of the gang his best mates frank graham, tommy green. cyril nulty, i wonder what that relation is to stephen nulty, harry grisdale, ray taylor, bob henderson, and relatives, the list goes on and on.ps and the football team in the 50s and 60s what a great team and a good bunch of blokes never any trouble just good friends,

Mike

Cyril was my dad's cousin (my dad was Jimmy Nulty, sadly died in 2004).

Bob Henderson, as you'll recall, was married to Mildred (or was it Mabel?) Nulty, another of dad's cousins. I often used to pop into the Plough to catch up with dad and others when playing domninoes.

You mentioned Tommy Green - I assume that's Tommy Senior, frrom Kingsway (where I lived)? A real character !!

I remember going to the Cables Club a few times in the 60's, but I was onoly a kid back then. Didn't Brian Morris have it before he had Shaw Lane Labour Club?

Hi,

I seem to be a few years late here Posted Image - I'm new on the forum.

My dad was Frank Graham (sadly passed away in 1992) and he loved playing dominos in the Plough.

Loving this forum, so much to read about - some great stories! (I may have 1 or 2 photos knocking about which I'll have to upload!)

Cheers,

Chris.

One of Harry Grisedales team mates, Harry Boydell is a matchday host at Cables. Many of us will have been taught first aid by his Dad, Harry G snr
