Can any one tell me whats happening in the old section of the grave yard they seen to have moved alot of grave stones. Alot of the weeds have been cut back but have been left on the flat stones that remain. I was looking for family graves but only manage to find a couple. I was wondering if they are going to re use it for the burial of ashes. Joe

Joe

A lot of weed clearance work took place about 18 months ago, and when I was there they were burning all the collected waste, mountains of it. I don't know for certain, but they were hoping to get funding to clear it more regularly.

Also, the resiting and rededication of the BICC War Memorial Plaques into the churchyard were dependent on the churchyard being cleared - if you've been there recently, then you'll know better than me whether this has happened.

There was also a proposal to allocate an area as a Garden of Remembrance but I don't know if this has been progressed or not. That was proposed for the northern end of the churchyard.

You can find out for yourself what the situation is by emailing them at knowsley.bereavement.services@knowsley.gov.uk

They are normally quite good at replying, but if you call them on 0151 443 5321 they should tell you there and then about what's happening
