If its Keeleys pond you mean, we used to catch newts and frogs in there, and Dukes Clough in Rainhill, always a few dead dogs around also. Dont remember any pipe there although there used to be a huge open pipe down the bottom of Two Butt lane, about 15 feet high, concrete,a sewer I suppose.

Geoff

I don't remember a pipe either. I know Keeley's was some sort of farm, but that's as much as I can recall.

Was Keeley's somewhere near "Kennel Cottages" on this 1935 map?

Dukes Clough.does anyone remember the quarry? In the 60's we used to go down and get tennis balls, well tennis balls with no cover, then they dumped a few tonnes of rat poison down there too.It was the deepest quarry in the area.It was Keeleys pond, and the pipe went from the bottom of Coronation drive to over by whiston village.Itr was filled in during the 60's.The map shows exactly where Keeleys used to be.

Geoff,
You are correct regarding the pipe that run from behind Coronation Drive towards Turner's Garage in Cross Lane. I remember we used to have dares to see who could walk the furthest along. I believe the pipe is still there but is now underground as it became a landfill site, so filling in Keeleys pond and also covering the pipe.
I have lived in Prescot for all of my 54 years and have happy memories of my beloved Prescot. I was born in the house I now own and still live in. Sadly Prescot has now changed beyond recognition and I am sory to say that our beloved Prescot is in danger of extinction. It now has the nickname of Presco's as Tesco's are planning 2 more developments in Whiston (mentioned in other posts).
I hope to be able to have a rummage through the old photo tin and see what old pictures I can find. My Father, Mother, Sister and Sister-in Law all worked at the BICC as did most of Prescot.
Have really enjoyed reading the Prescot forum and hope to contribute to some more posts.
Best wishes to all my fellow Prescotions and Forum members.
Regards,
Gary Campbell
