Bet you looked dapper in yer green blazer Ste,then it changed colour in 6th form, was it purple?I had alot of friends at West Park. They would have been there 1964 to 1970.I remember the old School shutting and the new one opening. They used to have some great disco's at the new school.
Was a Mr Rogers there? He would have tried to teach Maths and Physics.
Tried being, he came to give us a lecture at St.Helens tech,he was pissed up.

This topic has brought back some memories for me. In the late 60's / early 70s a group of about 6 of us used to meet up every Friday evening in the Royal Oak. In 1968 we decided to do a pub crawl of the Pubs of Prescot (& Lane Ends because of the Wellington). The plan was to have a half in every pub walking between pubs. We started about 6ish at the Eagle and Child ( think I have the name right) and then proceeded to the Plough - Royal Oak - Wellington - the Soldier - Tommy Halls - King's Arms - Hope and Anchor - Sun - Dean's House - Victoria - Red Lion - The Crown - we had to run to make last orders at the Bath Springs - we just made it. We were all exhausted and definitely worse for wear by 11 o' clock.

My mum worked in the Hope and Anchor around 1972 when a Scotsman, John Strang, was the Manager. She booked it for my 21st  .

A DJ friend of mine said' Come with us to the Royal Oak, they're starting a pop quiz, gallon of lager for the winner'. So we went along and promptly won. They only gave us our vouchers after last orders. So in order to spend them we went to the next one and won again. The next time we went the prizes were t-shirts and keyrings etc LOL

I lived in Vicarage Place, Prescot, for a while (rather foreboding overlooking the churchyard) before moving to Chatsworth Rd, Rainhill and Stapleton Rd. I never went into a pub in Prescot but did drink in The Green Dragon. I went out with a boy from Shaw St (RD?) in Prescot, he would take me to The Green Dragon because he thought it was more fitting for a young lady ;) The first drink I had there was a port and lemon, never had one since (hic).
No one ever asked for my age, I was 17.

Had a few in the Hare & Hounds. Is it still there, and what was the popular name the locals called it?

Shaw Lane clancy.
Tommy Halls Lobo.
The Commercial has always been a good pub, even when it was an Higsons house. An owl mate of mine Phill Ball (Benny) goes in there most days.

I know that it's sometimes known as "The George", but no idea why.

Also, it's the oldest pub in Prescot in continuous operation in the original building (1798).
