Used to love the Fleece hotel, lovely bar at the back for a few drinks and a great collection of beer mats that used to make their way into my bag for some reason!!! Used to go there on a Thursday night as there was a disco upstairs and you would get a piece of soggy pizza half way through the evening, played great music. BUT, most importantly I met my hubby there - I was wearing my skin tight pencil skirt, stilettos, made up to the nines, oh happy days indeed.

Anyone else ever used to go the disco in the early 80's???

Was in the Fleece bar one evening and went to the ladies - had to go down a flight of stairs to get to them. While I was washing my hands afterwards, a man - dressed as a woman - came out of the cubicle next to the one that I'd used - and left without washing his hands :yikes: !

One thing I remember about the Fleece was the posh shop outside near the entrance to the car park. I think it was called Van Heusan or something similar.

My fondest memory were the Friday nights in the back bar with the folk group. They were from the Wirral, a bloke on 5 string banjo, an excellant guitarist and one fine end of a female singer with good voice to boot. Briliant nights great music and Olde Chester/Bitter to slake your thirst.

Was I dreaming - or did they have one of those pianos that played itself? I know that sometimes they had actual people playing it. It was Greenall's wasn't it? I wasn't all that keen on that (only being happy drinking Tetley), but the best wasn't bad.
