Anyone remember Windle School 1948ish. This photograph appeared in the Star a while ago, wrongly identified as Laffak School. It was in fact my class at Windle School. These are the names I can remember:

Back Row: ?, ?, Joan Anders, Ray Pearce,Geoff Finney, Norman Traynor, Kenny Parr, Rhoda Clayworth, June Foster, Lorna Wilson, ? Kenyon.

Second Row: Johnnny Davies, ?, ?, Brian French, ?, Roy Clare, Derek Hurst, Keith Stratton Eddie Duncan, Alfie Hitchmough.

Third Row: ?, ?, Laura Woods, Rhona Roberts, Eileen Bott, Doreen Whetton, ?, ?, Hilda Potter, ?, ?, Ruth Watkins, ?.

Front Row: Joey Anders, Jimmy Foster, Desi Jackman, "Blo" Saxon, Maurice Taylor, Gordon Hammon, Arthur Slater, Gary Atherton, Ken Booth, Gordon Cave.

Not bad 31 out of 44 after 58 years.

Can anyone else fill in the blanks?

Was that the school I remember as Windle Pilkington School where the playground was on the roof and one floor of which was "The Food Office" where you got rose-hip syrup, cod-liver oil and orange juice?

I had a summer job at the UGB in the early '60s and Sam Shed worked in the Fitting Shop as a sort of storeman. He had some medical conditions that he never let interfere with his enjoyment of life; a great character.
