:D does anyone know of any online maps that can be viewed for free of what fingerpost looked like before the dual carriageway was built, or can these be seen in the library? :D

Go to St. Helens Photographs and click on Old Maps. The ones you want are the Burrows Maps

Hi

I lived on Higher Parr St in the 1940's, there was no police station on the Finger Post as the main station at the Town Hall was onlyabout half a mile or so along Corporation St. There was a police box at the top end of Jackson St right beside Peasley Cross railway station. The box was the type in Doctor Who.

There was aTardis outside the Roundhouse or Fingerpost i remember it well i think it went in the early sixties, the one in Jackson St was just before Sorogold St and updated to brick in the early sixties and is still there today but i don't think it is used anymore.Greenie

The brick built police station at the fingerpost end of Jackson Street is owned by our very own Mickey Crockett, right here on St Helens Connect

Don`t tell them all Gaz..You`ll get me locked up!!

About 12years ago the Police came to me and asked if I would consider renting them back the "Old Cop Box" I said" I`ll give it to you rent free to help the local community!

That was the last I heard.

I will however be renting it out ASAP on my return to Blytie.
