:D I went to St. Joseph's farnworth st fingerpost in the 60's but i can't remember any of the teachers, only the "nasty nuns" that terrorised us toddlers that hadn't been to mass on sunday. remember getting many a rap on the knuckles cos i never knew the priests vestment colours!! The fact i was left handed also didn't help, they used to look at me like i was the devil's daughter.

would luv to know if anyone remembers any of the teachers cos i'm sure that some of them were good teachers

thanx :D

I went to St Josephs in the 1940's. moved up to Holy Cross in 1946. 2 of the teachers at St Joseph's were relationed to me, Miss Esmonds, I don't knpw if they were still there in the 1960's

I also went to St Joseph's PS in the 60's. I remember when I started in 1965 Sister Bernard Joseph was the headmistress. Mrs McManus was my reception teacher and I remember an older teacher called Miss Pilkington. I have fond memories of Mrs Greenhalgh and of Sister Mary Sudworth who was the head after Sister Bernard Joseph. I remember Sister Mary taking me and Ann Green out of class to go on a bus ride to Haydock to a travel agents to pay for a trip we went on to a farm. I also remember a school trip to Morecombe when we made our First Holy Communion. Happy days.

Oh yes, Miss Pickervance! Now I've remember Mrs Atherton as well as Miss Pilkington from Holy Cross. Now I remember being frightened of Miss Pilkington, she was very strict.

I went to St Cuthberts and left in 1959 we had afew teachers fro St Josephs, was it in Peasly Cross. One who remember well was Mr Wilson,
I didnt like him at all he had favourites ie lads who excelled at football. I remember he made us all stay after school for some petty thing, that someone inthe class had done. Any way thay night it poured it down and I had to walk from Berries lane to Sutton and got absolutely soaked. My dad wrote a letter and Wilson always held it against me

Indeed, I went to St Cuthberts too in 1959 and from St. Josephs here Mr Wilson ruled the roost with a firm air. He succeeded Mr Pennington.
I started St. Cuthberts in 1A which was Mr. 'Spud' Murphy's class. Where you there Clocker Bazz?
