Who remembers this pub, that used to be in Eltonhead Rd? I do, but it doesn't seem to have been there long in my memory.

I went in a few times.
I remember a fisherman's net hanging from the ceiling and various large shells stuck around the walls.

The name of the pub was chosen by a competition.

Remember going in a few times shortly after it opened - think the reason we went in was because the former landlord of the Prince of Wales in town ran it and he always kept a good pint of Burtonwood!

Remember the last night in the Prince before it closed, grabbing as much memorabilia as we could!

The Landlord of the Prince of Wales who move into the Prop & Pony was Alan Roberts. My Mum Maureen was a Barmaid in the Prince for many years and worked in the Prop for a while. Robbo back into the Police Force and is now retired and playing golf. Anybody remember any of the regulars in The Prince or should I start a seperate thread for that?

I've asked my Mum about Magwag and she recalls the name but can't remember anything about him. Two characters that she mentioned and who I remember as well was Peter 'Ches' Chesworth and Dennis Little. Ches unfortunately passed away last year. He moved his considerably ale-shifting talents to The Royal George after the Prince closed down.
