Wonder if you ever received any details on Windlehurst Primary School, as it was called, when I attended just after the War ( world war 2 that is-not the napoleonic).I don't have any photographs, but I can recall many of the teachers, including the redoutable Miss Clarke and our Sports Master Tommy Twist. There were a number of old maids such as the diminuitive Miss Phillips-it's to be hoped she doesn't read this. Highly unlikely I would have thought. I am still in touch with a number of my classmates, one of whom I have contacted through St Helens Connect, who has been resident in Western Australia for the last thirty years.Kind regards Tony Beaman

Thanks for the info on Windlehurst. Im interested to find out some of its history as the council have issued notices for the school to close next year. I would be interested to know when the school first opened, and how many classes children in the classes there were when you were there. Any info appreciated thanks

If it closes, I would imagine that the school might do a display of old photos etc. St Matthews did when they closed.

closure of St Matthews was sad as they could have been the first ecumenical school in Tellins if the merger had gone right.... still I believe there will be an ecumencial school in St Helens soon - not sure where but think its Haydock way.

Yeah, it is English Martyrs and St James that are merging, at least that is what I have heard.

Tony, I'm still trying to place you. Were you known as "Adje" or similar Beaman at Cowley?

Hi Yanamamo, Better late than never, sorry for delay, only just saw this thread.

Here's a link to a Windlehurst Site with info and photos. Hope it helps.
