How many of you boys remember playing 'tick' rugby in the school playground usually with somebodies jumper or jacket?
We used to play in the morning, dinner and afternoon breaks every day. Many a time we would play a full match against another school when lessons had finished and still have enough energy to go out playing 'bung off' and other games after you had had your tea.

All that squabbling as to whether someone had been ticked or not led to a new version called held rugby where you physically had to grab hold. This inevitably led to proper tackling and no clothes fit to go to school in next day.

Dane,
Played with you and against you at school ,you had to be fit in those days and we were very fit ,but I kept hitting the wall of the toilets when we played.

That probably explains why I ended up as I did!!

Or your very first game of football at infant/junior school, it was like two swarm's
of ant's charging round the field after the ball.

school football it was just kicking towards the oppositions goal.
and the old 5 3 2 formation ,and if you was one of the full backs
you didnt go beyond the half way line and you stayed on your own side
right back or left back, going back to my nutgrove school days,
i was right back and my friend Trevor Jones was left back,
not seen Trevor for 69 yrs,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
