The Beatles played the plaza as the silver beatles Rory Storm and the Hurricans played there the drummer they had was a Richard starkey later to be called Ringo Starr with the Beatles

Welcome, jimmy - like Phyll, I'm another who likes to see old threads resurrected.

It's always good to get new input on them.

Hi welcome Jimmy, another fan of the beatles here. Love their music. I had an autograph book full, I probably head the beatles too, but don't remember where I got it. I love listening to the beatles also playing their music myself (guitar)

Have a great time on here and if you are on when the chat light is on nip in for a good old fashioned natter.

The Beatles played the Plaza as The Beatles with Ringo as the drummer. Please,Please Me was in the charts at the time. If you read the sleeve notes on Anthology 1 it says that when the beatles arrived at Abbey Rd.to make a recording,it might have been the From Me To you single,Paul Mc Cartney realised his plectrum was missing and it was assumed he had lost it at the concert in St.Helens the previous night. This was 1963 of course.

The Beatles first played the Plaza on 25 June 1962. They played four consecutive Monday evenings but Ringo was not yet a member. He joined them officially on 18 August 1962 and so was their drummer for their fifth and final date at the Plaza on Monday 4 March 1963 (almost a year later). Not sure about who the drummer was in 1962. I don't think it was Pete Best for some reason but I was at all five of those Beatles appearance at the Plaza. Ringo had played there with 'Rory Storm and the Hurricanes' during the same period but he was not a member of the Beatles until the 1963 appearance.

Slightly off-topic as nothing at all to do with autographs ..................

Did you realise that Stuart Sutcliffe is buried in the so-called 'new graveyard' at St.Michael's Parish Church, Bluebell Lane, Huyton?

I'm not referring to the graveyard surrounding the church itself - nor the very new Knowsley Borough Cemetery on Foxes Bank Lane, Whiston. It's the graveyard off the small square at the top of Bluebell Lane, Huyton.

Hi Ollie, Thanks for that info. You know I love The Beatles, but I never knew that.
As he died in Hamburg, I always thought he must have been buried there,
but I was reading about him and it seems his Mum brought him back to Liverpool after he died.
I never knew he was born in Edinburgh either.

Found these.

Phyll - Along with my ex-husband, I worked with John Lennon's 'Uncle Charlie' back in 1972 at the Ferry Boat Inn, West Molesey (across the Thames from Hampton Court Palace), We were married in Kingston-on-Thames, had our reception where we worked and, naturally, Charlie Lennon was one of our guests. He was on a couple of the photos, but I'm afraid I either lost them (or destroyed them in anger) a long time ago.

Charlie was the Kitchen Porter - my ex was the Chef and I was the Kitchen Assistant. We left in October 72, and he was still working there.

Link to article about Charlie Lennon - it's a 6 page article.

Not being a Beatles fan myself, I wasn't all that impressed with Charlie being John's uncle - he was just a really nice fella to work with.
